about

Having to go on a perpetual travel to find where I fit felt like torture, but I think I finally know I belong. I'm trying to settle down now.

-Marcel (Akzron) Vitriant

This album was a nightmare to make. This was originally going to be the second Akzron album, but it quickly fell into developmental hell. It was inspired by King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, specifically their release, Nonagon Infinity, as well as Made in Timeland. Both albums are perfect loops, but Nonagon Infinity was designed to be an album where no matter where you started, you would end up back at where you started. I wanted to do something like that, but try to do more with it. So, how this album is designed is that it is exactly forty minutes, every track is actually five minutes, the tempo of the album is fixed (at 120bpm), and not only is the album a loop, every track is a loop in and of itself.

You can tell this was made between Akzron Against the World and Trapped in a Tumultuous World because there's Halley Lab samples in here. Trapped in a Tumultuous World was made without the use of those samples because I wanted to shift away from having to rely on those. Besides, I wanted to make MY own samples with all the recordings I've done, whether it be solo recordings or recordings with my band mate, Wilbur. this album was started before I began to make my own samples, and because of how conceptual this album is, I really had no choice but to keep using the Halley Labs samples. You can hear as the album reaches to its last few tracks that samples from Trapped in a Tumultuous World, which are my own samples, start to come into the mix. There came a point where I stopped working on Tortured Traveler and switched over to working on Trapped in a Tumultuous World, which was an album I was way more excited to work on over this. When I did finish Trapped in a Tumultuous World and went back to working on Tortured Traveler, it felt a bit like a chore.

Yeah, I'm not the most proud of this album compared to the previous Akzron effort. I still think I did a good job with this, but I also wish I did some things different. The album loop is perfect, but I think I got it to the best that I could. This album took way too long to make. I think I started. I also feel like this is the most tame Akzron album yet. It has chaotic energy still, especial near the end, but Akzron's music is supposed to be very, very chaotic, you know? I could have delved more deeper into the chaos for this one.

Here's hoping I have more fun with the next Akzron album. Trust me when I say that I love making music under the Akzron moniker. It's one of my favorite monikers. I had so much fun with Trapped in a Tumultuous World. This album, however, was tougher to finish because of all the things I had to keep track of. I know that the next time I do another one, I'm going to try to steer away from using Halley Labs samples and such, just because I know I can make my own samples, and I have more material now to make new samples. I mean, I did do that for the last few tracks, and even still, I have more material I can use from my own personal catalogue.
