Journey to the Nectar Lake

1.
This is a world that you are probably not familiar with, unless if you are from here. This is a world of red hues. There are dark red chasms. The trees here are red; so is the grass. The ground is red, and the sky is pink. So much of this world is red. It's not the only color of this world, though. Our main food source in this world is nectar. It's this yellow and orange liquid. It's our food, but it also quenches our thirst. Some things even live in the nectar. It rains nectar here. We are few and far between. Each settlement has around thirty citizens. The biggest settlements hold around one hundred. We are all struggling, however. There are not a lot of nectar sources around. We are running low. The closest lake is miles away, days away. Not a lot of people survive going that distance before hunger and dehydration kill them off. I need to make this journey.

Denarioh 05:32
My name is Denarioh. You don't need to know what I am. I'm red, and I'm really tall. I'm alive, but I don't know for how long. I live alone. I don't even live in a settlement. I only know a few people. We are all far apart, geographically. Our nectar supplies are running low. We've been hit with a bad drought.
3.
There is a nectar pond near my house. It's my closest source of food. I've visited it many times. I fear I'm running low.
4.
I went to the pond today. My horrors have been realized. It really is running dry. I'll have to make the long journey to the nearest lake. A journey that will take days. I take some rations, canisters for nectar, and I go off on my journey.
5.
I have climbed hills on my journey, crossed a dried-up river, a medium-sized forest, and several plains. I've been at it for a few days. I've been sleeping outside through cold nights. Not like the days were hot, to begin with; they aren't. This journey is exhausting. Within a few days, I run out of my rations. I'm almost halfway there. This is the worst time to run out.
6.
I'm getting desperate now. It's been a couple of days since I've been able to eat or drink anything. I am suffering greatly. I know I'm near the lake, but am I near enough to survive?
7.
I finally see it in the distance. Lake Haralor; the nectar lake I've been trying to get to. I try to walk to it, but I collapse to the ground. All of this malnutrition I've been going through has broken me down. I can't even muster up the strength to stand up now. I start to crawl my way to the lake. I've come all this way. I've gone through all of my rations. I've traversed through difficult terrain. I've been starving and parched for three days. I'm not about to give up now!
8.
I was so close. I could almost touch the lake, I swear. I lost all my energy, however. It was just a few feet away, too. Despondency has fully kicked in now. Abruptly, these small figures approach me. There were five of them. There were two blue ones, a green one, a purple and pink one, and a blue and pink one, who was the taller one. That one was probably an adult. I got the name of one of them. The green one was named Okalo. The purple one gave me a bottle of "water." It helped a lot with my thirst . Okalo gave me something to eat as well. The smallest blue figure revealed to me that they were from a different dimension. Whoever these figures were, they saved my life.
9.
I would see Okalo again. He was at that lake one day. I had stayed near the lake for a few days. I needed to recuperate from my journey. A long time ago, there were these invisible towers. They would rise from the ground. They would be used as outlook posts. Most have been decommissioned. Many have fallen apart or have disintegrated by now. Not all of them have fallen apart yet. Something awful happened. Okalo activated one of the towers. It rose, bringing him up with it. Then it fell to the lake, taking him with it. He went far down into the nectar. I hurried my way over to the lake. I went in and pulled him out of the lake. He was unconscious. I managed to resuscitate him. He essentially drowned. I'm glad I was there because I was able to save him. He would be dead. He woke up so scared and confused. I managed to calm him down. He was covered in nectar, and he was coughing it up, too. His face has scars on it as well. I feel bad for this kid.
10.
I know that Okalo must have people that protect and care about him. If he's ever around, I will protect him. I will keep Okalo safe as best as I can. There are dangers of this world he does not know of yet. I am their guardian.

about

Journey to the Nectar Lake is a dark ambient soundtrack to a dying world. Denarioh traverses across miles of terrain to get to a nectar lake, which nectar is a food source for his species. He sets out on a journey that'll take roughly a week, and it will slowly break him down.

Yes, I still exist. I was dealing with depression badly, and I had little to no motivation to work on anything music-related. So I, in a way, took a break. I'm alright now, at least. I was able to finish something.

Anyway, this album is a story. Each track has a companion piece that gives you a piece of the story of each song. This story, while somewhat vague, is quite straightforward, but it gives you enough space to imagine the story and the world for yourself. I plan to one day add some bonus items to this, so look out for that.
