And we're here Far away from here And we find The journey we've known And we learn that from that light (?) Some day we'll die Some day then people will be alive And it's been ages since I've been out And we are here for a while Nebulae(s) fly by We're on an astral exploration And we are far from home The words escape my tongue And out in space, here we are (?) Living somewhere else Far away from where we are Far away from where we are Far away from where we are Far away from where we are And I know you see me again Memories of life pretend To fly until they end up down again (?) And when we were young Above a star I'll be beside you in time The light reflects from my eyes The light reflects from my eyes The light reflects from my eyes We're far from home But don't worry, we'll get back soon Three years have gone past Three years are left to stay And we're on this astral exploration And you know I'll be here for you As long as the lights stays right here

about

From the elusive Sputnik Collective, comes a new soundtrack to a film about a cosmic exploration through the astral plane. A group of tourist go on a voyage aboard the Halcyon. Throughout their journey, reminiscing of foreign and personal pasts, going through a tough asteroid belt, and pondering about the future, these friends get closer from their journey through the stars.

So, Sputnik Collective came to mind during a recording session Wilbur and I had. We wanted to make an instrumental album, but we weren't planning on making another Rexton-Garnet Reels album. Then I got an idea of making a fictional soundtrack. After all, I'm no stranger to making fictional soundtracks. Then a twist came to mind that we both really enjoyed. I got the idea of a collective, if you will, that make soundtracks to movies. We struggled on think of a moniker name that didn't have an alliterate title, like Aileron Assembly, which we are still working on the first album for that one. We eventually settled on Sputnik Collective, referencing the recurring figure of Sputnik in my RonZak moniker. Fitting that this would be the first album. After deciding on a name, we recorded eight songs, which none are on this album, sorry. Those songs are for another story yet to be finished.

Then, what about this one, huh?! Well, calm down, first off. Astral Exploration came to mind after we had recorded a song for an upcoming I Remember 2006 album about traveling through someone's psyche. That helped spawned the idea of a space exploration. Wilbur had recently got an amplifier and a cord for his guitar, so we were able to make a more spacey album. Sadly, we weren't able to use his piano because of unforeseen complications. Hopefully, next time that will be an option.

There were quite a lot inspirations behind this album. The biggest one was Pink Floyd, because of the psychedelic, spacey vibe behind the album. Another big inspiration inspired the way this album is formatted, and that artist was James Leyland Kirby, who is a big inspiration for me having numerous monikers just like this one. Kirby has a tendency to organized his albums as if they were on a cassette, or a vinyl, (more of the latter.) Other inspirations were We Lost the Sea, Modest Mouse, Nine Inch Nails, Tool, and Car Seat Headrest. We have talked about maybe setting up a cassette release for this some time down the line.

This was a really fun project to make. We recorded it all in one day, which is pretty on par with what we do. We hope to do this again sometime soon. Anyway, I need to sleep, and I have Akzron stuff and other errands to do today.
