Motivation comes and goes In peaks and troughs You will find that week has passed Of you doing nothing at all And another week will come And you have done seemingly everything And you don't know where it all came from Motivation comes and goes In peaks and troughs You will find yourself somewhere new Before you even know how And when that day comes You will learn why You will understand how you got here Motivation comes and goes In peaks and troughs Motivation comes and goes In peaks and troughs (That was a semi that just went by)

(Verse One) Every day it's hard to stay awake And every night you find yourself Awake and not asleep You'll be there at two But out by four Insomnia weak by weeks (Verse Two) I keep on slowly degrading With all the lack of sleep I'm getting I just can't let this thing sink me I got to keep on going Insomnia will try to break me But I will be the one That will stand at the end I will get through this, I swear (Refrain) Insomnia weak by weeks Insomnia weak by weeks (Verse Three) Don't leave me behind I will try to stay around And I know that it's hard And it gets harder every day My body is failing me But I will try to stay afloat I won't let insomnia claim me (Refrain) Insomnia weak by weeks Insomnia weak by weeks Insomnia weak by weeks Insomnia weak by weeks

about

How to Figure Yourself Out for a Day is an album that originally started with a different concept in mind, of some fictional road trip. It eventually evolved into an album about working on oneself.

A lot of things happened in the months rounding up the year. Some things I don't want to mention. Some things dealing with my personal growth. Some things dealing with instruments. Some things were also out of my control.

The biggest thing that happened in round up of 2023 was witnessing construction tear down and pave over the field that was next to my house, of which I grew up with. Wilbur, my band mate, took a picture of me on a mountain of dirt that has been left by construction. I thought it could make for a good album cover.

Also, shortly after the year started, my electric guitar's pickups went out, so I have to replace those, and then the day after, Wilbur brings to my attention that a band from Ohio wants to collaborate with us. I have that to look forward to. (If you're that band, by the way, hello! From Michigan!)

This album was originally this weird vaporwave/chillwave album, but it grew into this eclectic electronic, vaporwave, chillwave, ambient, post-rock album that I am really proud of. I started working on it back in late July of last year. I tried to keep the time of this album in a standard album length, or like forty-ish minutes. There's a bit of jank in a few tracks, but I'm glad with what I got. It was a fun album to make. Insomnia Weak By Weeks was a nightmare to work on, however, and I eventually just settled with what I could do about the sound of The Night's So Long, So Just Take Me Home. (Choose your effects wisely.) I mean, this album was never meant to be perfect. That's the point.
